Will this setup need a CDL?

Pick your truck and a trailer rating. We add them up the way federal rules do, and show what you can haul.

Combined
Payload at this rating

A quick guide based on the federal combination rule (49 CFR 383.91): a Class A CDL applies when the combined GVWR is 26,001 lbs or more and the trailer is rated over 10,000 lbs. Your state, how you use the rig and your authority can change this. Truck weights shown are typical; use your door sticker. Ask us before you buy.

What would the payment be?

Move the numbers until they feel right. Then put in what a load pays you, and see how many loads a month cover the payment.

Estimate only, not a loan offer. Real rates depend on credit, time in business and the lender.

Straight answers. If yours isn't here, call or text.

Text a question
Which car hauler should I start with?

Most owner operators with a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup start with the Max Light 48 Low Profile. If you already run a bigger truck and want 4 cars or tall vans, look at the Ultra Max 53. For 2 cars behind a gooseneck ball, the Max Light 40 Gooseneck is the lightest way in.

Fifth wheel or gooseneck ball?

The Low Profile and Ultra Max models ride on a king pin and fifth wheel. The 48 Wedge and 40 Gooseneck hook to a 2 5/16 in gooseneck ball. The 40 Gooseneck can also be ordered with a fifth wheel coupler for $200.

What does payload mean for me?

Payload is what the trailer can carry: its GVWR minus its own weight. A lighter trailer leaves more of the rating for cars. Use the CDL checker above to see payload at the rating you choose.

Can I change options after I order?

Talk to us before the trailer is built. Buckeye builds to order, so options are easiest to change early.

How long does a new Buckeye take?

It depends on the model and Buckeye's build schedule. Call us for the current timing on the model you want.
