Will this setup need a CDL?

Pick your truck and a trailer rating. We add them up the way federal rules do, and show what you can haul.

Payload at this rating

A quick guide based on the federal combination rule (49 CFR 383.91): a Class A CDL applies when the combined GVWR is 26,001 lbs or more and the trailer is rated over 10,000 lbs. Your state, how you use the rig and your authority can change this. Truck weights shown are typical; use your door sticker. Ask us before you buy.

Text a question
Gooseneck or step deck?

A gooseneck flatbed hooks to a ball in your pickup bed and suits equipment and general hotshot loads. The 53 ft step deck rides on a fifth wheel and gives you a long lower deck for tall freight.

What does the tilt trailer save me?

No ramps to lift or store. The whole deck tilts on its own hydraulics, so equipment drives straight on.

Can I get a 40,000 lb rating?

The Step Deck Freight 53 has a 40K GVWR upgrade with 16K axles, and the Heavy Duty Gooseneck goes up to 40,000 lbs. Remember that ratings that high mean a CDL.
